Robert and I are excited that you are taking time to learn about what God is doing through us. Our prayer is that this ministry blesses a multitude of people, varied people…different geographical locations, different cultures, believers and non-believers, all ages, all socioeconomic groups, all races…the goal is to love, serve, give of our time and resources. We pray some of you will be prompted, even drawn, to travel with us on this journey.
“…How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” Romans 10:15, NIV
We have been a little tentative at times to take this journey. One foot in and one foot out…wondering would God really use us, this ministry? Were we equipped? Would he take care of us and our household if we dove in completely? Should we devote our lives to full time ministry as a couple? The answer to all of this has been a resounding YES. We know this road won’t be easy. Life never is even for those that believe but we have His assurances and our faith to lean on.
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9, NIV
As a couple, we’ve been called to not only do life together but also serve others together. Individually, He has made our specific callings and focus somewhat different. We are getting Upshaw Ministries off the ground with two areas of focus to start…Robert is concentrating on teaching YM, Young Manhood, a curriculum he has developed to mentor young men and I’ve been called to use my nursing knowledge and love for people to start ROAM, RNs On A Mission. We will add other ministries as God leads us to do so. We want to give God room to show up and show out! Showing us even more ways to grow and for this ministry to grow…after all its all about Him and loving His people. That’s ALL of us!
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34, 35, NIV
By His Grace,
“I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Philipians 3:14 (NKJV)
