2020 for most of us has been very different. Young Manhood classes continued at our area schools until Covid closed them down in March. However, Robert has been able to continue mentoring a few young men individually during this time. God also gave Robert the opportunity to be Chaplain for the Arkansas Travelers baseball team and Leslie the Travelers Women’s Ministry Leader for the 2020-21 season. Unfortunately, with Covid that season has been canceled. We’ve delivered meals to our homeless friends on the street and donuts to area hospital staff. Tragically, we had a close family member killed and have been navigating new and unexpected waters for several months now. Helping our daughters walk through this unexpected tragedy has been something we wish we weren’t experiencing. However, we are so grateful we have each other and a heavenly Father to comfort us.
September – Robert and Leslie are busy planning, preparing, praying, reading, and creating. Using this time for making a budget, vision plans, letters, phone calls, zoom calls and occasionally holding one-on-one meetings with potential partners has been our focus. Robert will be starting back up in the schools as soon as he gets the all clear from those in charge (due to Covid restrictions). In the meantime, he is still meeting one on one with several he’s been mentoring for some time.
We are still preparing to launch ROAM in October. Our hearts ached to see the fires in CA and the hurricanes as they swept across our country. We are eager to provide assistance and care for just those types of events. We know God is going to do mighty things with this ministry. Please see the ROAM tab for more information on how to get involved.
Look below and please let us know how you’d like to get involved in the months to come.
February – Spoke at Baptist Preparatory High School Chapel, Spoke at Cabot Boys and Girls Varsity Basketball Teams Dinner July – Delivering “Summertime Snacks” to some of the local high school football teams during their hot summer practices. August – Preparing and delivering “Welcome Back” bags to students on their first day of school. Also, Young Manhood will be back in the schools for 2020-2021 school year. If schools go online during the year, we will seek out ways to still be in communication with and encourage students.
